i would like barack obama to win because he is nothing like bush and he wants to end the war, which i believe is right. another reason i support him is because hes is supporting a stronger immigration system. he believes we should strenghten our borders and i like it. besides hes black. GO BARACK!!!

p.s. do i get extra credit for being the first one???

I'm on Obama's side as well. he seems in touch with America already. even thought McCain's campaign is bashing him right now for the oil drilling bills and such, he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. i completely gave up on the republicans when McCain chose his VP candidate. She doesn't seem to have nearly enough experience to be VP. i give her credit for holding the position she did in Alaska, but it just seemed like McCain threw in the towel when he chose her. anyway, back to Obama. he seems friendly, smart, intense, just all around great. and yes, he's black, and i think America could use that kind of shock of reality.

Well im not a passenger on baracks bandwagon. i definitly would vote john mccain for president because i like his values. He supports the second ammendment shich i strongly believe in. he strongly opposes gun control and the restrictment of citizens having firearms. his website says that gun laws wouldn't stop a criminal as they have no regard to the laws and would find weapons anyways. he also has good ideas on enery. he wants to use our domestic oil capabilities and lower our dependence on foreign suppliers which will keep money here in the states & help our country. his plan to build 45 some new nuclear power generation facilities by 2030 sounds great too. the construction of these plants would provide clean energy and many jobs for americans associated in the power and construction fields. i don't know how a candidate could get better than john mccain. personally i hope mccain beats down obama and wins in november.

hey can someone tell me what we was the topic for the essay??

im going for mccain just because im a republican at heart and also i dont believe our country is ready for a black president yet. im not being racist because i have nothing wrong with that personally but i believe that other countries may take advantage of that or may try to use that against us and as sad as it is to say i think overall our country is still somewhat racist no matter what people say or think.

I completely support Barack Obama in this presidential campaign for many reasons. First I think that having the first black president in our country can prove to other countries and even our own what we are capable of and how we’ve grown as a nation. I also agree with him on a lot of issues like his plan for healthcare for all Americans and his views on energy. McCain on the other hand made a bad choice, in my opinion on choosing Palin, because of her lack of experience. Personally, I think that 72 years of age is too old to become a president, and that we need a young, friendly, up-to-date president like Obama.

Like Mike Owens, I would also vote for John McCain. Unlike gretchen, I think it should not be about whether someone is black to vote for them, it should be because of there policies and benefits to you. I don't think McCain made a bad decision in choosing Palin because Barrack Obama has a lack of experience, that is one of the issues always brought up in his run for president. Also you contradicted yourself when you said that we need a new fresh president and lack of experience of palin, McCain is old but he has so much experience that he out does Obama easily. Here are also some of the reasons I will choose McCain for presidnet: John McCain favors new drilling offshore of the Us, He will appoint judges who interpret the law, not make it , he served in the Us Armed Forces, He served in the Us Senate for 22 Years (OBAMA SERVED FOR 173 DAYS!!) , He supports gun ownership, and does not support homosexual marriage, he will not pull troops out of Iraq , and does not support abortions, he did not vote to give social security benefits to illegals (unlike obama), He also wants new government taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can recieve the same level of medical care as other third-world countries! In conclusion, these are obvious reasons that will make me support McCain/Palin in the upcoming elections.

Edit for my comment, i mean he won't pull troops out of iraq without regard to national security.

I would have to vote John Mccain because he is a strong believer in the 2nd ammendment. Also, since he has experience in the military, I think he would do a great job of overseeing the War on Iraq and national security. He also plans on breaking our nation's strategic dependence on foreign sources of energy and will focus more on the American economy. He believes that we must provide for the families of the soldiers while they serve and we must help those who return from combat to adjust to civilian life. I am a strong supported of the war on Iraq and believe it is very important to help the veterans that have been injured, either physically or mentally, and help bring them back to their full potential. Personally, I don't believe that Obama would be a good president. I don't think that he is fully in touch with the military situation that is taking part in Iraq. He thinks that it will figure itself out if the soldiers just left. Another thing, I completely disagree with Gretchen. It doesn't matter how old the president is, just on his experience and the choices he makes. Yes, having a successful black president would be a big change, but what if it all does wrong. It could be an even bigger hit to our country. Overall, I think Mccain is the best choice.

I'm undecided on the issue of who should be president. There are things I like and dislike about each candidate. I like Obama's ideas on immigration and immigrants who entered illegaly can have an opportunity to be come legal citizens. I think he's a little sketchy on his plans though to provide healthcare to everyone. On the otherhand, I am really pro-life and I totally agree with McCain's stance on abortion. However, I don't like his stance on gun control at all, I think there needs to be WAY more restrictions. I like both candidates energy plans, but, they both want to explore nuclear power which I am totally against because over time it is really bad for the environment. So, I'm pretty much undecided at this point.

going off what Lauren said about Obama's lack of experience, and being younger, i think that with his Vice Presidential choice Joe Biden, and with his past experience, that together they will be able to do some really good things for our country. I also believe in more liberal rights for people, like women's choice, same-sex marriage, and pulling the troops out of Iraq and ending the war once and for all. McCain has opposite beliefs, that i don't fully understand. When on the other hand, Barack supports those things.

I believe that Barack Obama should become the next president. I think he has presented many ideas that will help in benefiting our country. Things such as hiring the minum wage, will help many low income family's. I also like that he wants to help immigriants to become legal, to keep family's together, he doesn't want to allow illegal immigrants to keep comming in our country, but help the process of becomming legal more able to people. Overall I think Obama will be a fantastic next president.

Anonymous said...

I agree with lauren and mike owens I would like John McCain to win because I think he is more experienced. McCain has been a prisoner of war and been in war and so I believe he knows how to handle intense situations. He has also said that he wants to research alternative and domsetic energy sources so we can reduce our dependance on foreign oil companies. I think McCain would be the best option for everyone because although he is a republican he has a lot of liberal ideas too. Another point I like about him is that he is going to work on getting our troops back but not just taking them out, he's going to make sure it is the appropriate time for them to leave.

i disagree with all you mccain people. i believe that if mccain succedes as our new president, then we shall just prolong the war for another 4 years. there is no point in trying to control a country that is at a civil war. we will just be wasting our tax dollars. and if you think that if obama becomes president and the gun policy will change? then think harder. for almost every household in the country has a gun, and it will be impossible to produce a gun a ban, even if the president thought so. my guess is congress would never allow it to become a law.

Anonymous said...

For the fruitlover if we didn't have gun control we couldn't hunt , its like anything people misuse it so i dont feel it should be stopped for the people who do use guns correctly. And i understand where gretchen is coming from, she just has different beliefs and vaules then on do on things such as gay marriage, and abortions. But Palin's experience is more then Obama's so keep that in mind. And to Dara, if we had immigrants that became legal it would take away from legal americans getting a job. It's like if you applied at subway and 10 foriegn immigrants applied to and they got the job over you, you wouldn't think it was fair. There are so many illegal immigrants that if 100,000 left each day for the next 30 years there still would be some left. also to moualicious, talk about tax dollars wasted would be for obamas tax plans.

Anonymous said...

okay, for lauren and amy, I probably wasn't clear enough, but I don't mean hunting guns. I mean the type of guns that people use to kill people. I agree, people misuse the right to bear arms. what I'm saying is, that there should be more restrictions as to who can purchase guns (e.g. not criminals) and longer waiting periods. Also, I agree with peekabo, we can't just leave Iraq. That will just cause a power vaccuum and some other group will take over. There needs to be some type of time-table to leave. I think Obama's unrealistic in the amount of troops he wants to pull out of Iraq if he becomes president.

I do not know for sure who i would vote for, but if i had to decide now I would choose Barak Obama. He seems to want to point this country in the direction it should be going. The "Making Work Pay" tax credit seems like the kind of tax relief so many Americans are looking for. And it would eliminate taxes for around 10 million Americas. And as we all know the price of gas is climbing. He would provide a short term relief for people that are having trouble paying for it. But on the other hand he age is a major issue and John McCain has much more experience than Obama does it seems

Rissa said...

I agree with Gretchennn about Obama’s energy plans. He wants to put 1 million hybrid cars on the road by 2015. Image how much energy we could save by doing that one thing. Also, I agree with her on the fact that Obama has good healthcare plans. The fact that his new healthcare plan won’t turn away any uninsured Americans for illnesses or pre-existing conditions is great for those people who need it.

Anonymous said...

i would like to see mccain win in this election. i agree with mikeowens in liking his energy ideas. I think that drilling offshore is a good idea, not for a long term solution, but to help us buy some time so we can find an alternative to our dependance on foreign oil. His plans to put up 45 new nuclear plants also sound like a great idea and could have a significant impact if they are thouroughly planned out. A problem that i have with Obama is that he wants a universal health care policy. Many of us hear this and think it sounds great that everyone will be covered, but what we don't see is that this removes the competition which makes our health care so great. If you've ever been to a hospital in Canada you know what Im talking about. The care you get is subpar. Another issue is the war. I agree with amy in her thinking that we cannot just pull out immediately because we dont like being there. The fact is is that we are engaged in a war and we can only pull out when the situation is appropriate.

I'm on John McCain's side for the election this year. I agree with a lot of the points that Lauren brought up. I really think that his experience for 22 years opposed to 173 in the Senate would really help with a role like this. Also I am more conservative when it comes to homosexual marriages and abortions. I think both of those things are wrong. As for the war controversy I agree with Amy too in saying that since he's been involved with wars before I think he'll be able to solve are current problems better then Obama.

I would have to vote for OBama, due to the fact i believe our country needs a fast and strong effective change, and Mccain is quoted on saying he agrees with Bush more than 90% of the time.

Unknown said...

I have to agree with all the other McCain supporters so far. I like what paul brought up with concern to the healthcare in Canada. They have a socialist healthcare system that gives care to all people which is what i guess Obama wants. Having spoken with some canadian residents before, they stated that due to all the governmental taxes to keep the healthcare system going they lose 60-70% of their income. If a families income is 100K think about how a family of parents and a few children could survive on less than 40K. That is basically around the poverty boundary which almost makes working hard not worth it. In the end you lose almost all that you have worked hard to gain. If that system was in America, I think i would have to go somewhere else. Likely somewhere in the carribean.

I personally would have give my vote to MIKE HUCKABEE. I would of gave my vote to him because he "believes conservative leadership is best suited to lead America forward in the 21st Century." He also emphasizes a healthy lifestyle which i believe is very important in obese America. If only he was still a candidate... :(

I really like Mike's comment about the taxes. the whole point of working hard in America is to get ahead, if everyone who worked hard still had to pay more taxes everyone would end up equal in the end anyway so there would be no motivation for people to keep trying hard. It might look good at first to get the healthcare paid for by government but it would make the people working hard and making more money pay more in taxes to support people they don't even know. I know some people need the extra help but some people would take advantage of this and not work hard.

I totally disagree with Dara, I don't think that illegal immigrants should be allowed less strict immigration laws. Just because there was a sudden burst of illegal immigration does not mean that the laws should change because of it. It would only make the situation worse, easier to illegally immigrate, more illegal immigrants. On the other hand, more strict immigration laws, less illegal immigrants. By the way, isn't it hard enough to get a job the way it is.

veggielover said...

if i could vote in this presidential election, i would vote for john McCain. I believe in good values and i could never vote for someone who would make abortion okay, because it's not. I also don't support same sex marriages. I also think that McCain is much more qualified for the position. He has been a senator much longer than Obama, he has been in the armed forces, and knows how to handle tough decisions.

veggielover said...

commenting on what moualicious and gretchennnnnn said, i don't think anyone should vote for obama because he's black. if our country has really grown as much as people say, it shouldn't matter that he is black. people shouldn't even take that into consideration when voting for a president. does being black make him a better candidate? i dont' think so.

Anonymous said...

What peekaboo said about letting it easier for illigeal immigrants to come in that's not what he's trying to do. I know many people who have been trying for several years to be able to come to this country even though there family members like brothers and sisters live here. Obama wants to make the process of becomming able to come to America legally easier, we can't just tell everyone they can't come here because there immigrants. Our country is based on people from other countrys comming here, as we are learning about now.

Anonymous said...

First hi Pocahantas! rice yum Thats not the problem though, our problem is people who are smuggling in. It is different from people who are trying to come because the rest of there family is here. And Obama wants to make social security for the illegals, who pays for that? hmmm... US! And Paul made an excellent point. The other day my science teather was in canada and had an emergency (kidney stone) and they said it would take him 7-8 hour before he could get medical attention. That is insane! Our quality of health care is excellent due to the competition and many doctors aren't going to continue to give health care if they get paid lower for a job that takes a lot of brain power and work. Would you go to college to become a doctor, if all you got from it was average pay that you could get from any other job but do a job that saves someones life? And about the war, obama wants to get out right away however what does that solve whereas McCain will responsibly end the war in Iraq. He is committed to staying so that there is not a wider war with even greater sacrifices. The fact will always remain about gun control, guns don't kill people, people kill people. And Law abiding citizens should not be asked to give up their rights because of criminals - criminals who ignore gun control laws anyway.

I would vote for John Mccain because of his first hand experience with previous wars. With his experience he will be better equipped to handle the pressure of being commander and cheif, because he will know what it is like in war and he will be more apprehensive to send our young soldiers into battle without a good reason. What bothers me about Obama is that he doesn't have this experience. So my question is how can you ask somebody to be our commander and cheif and lead our country in the heat of battle if he doesn't even have military experience?

Anonymous said...

i won't disagree with that, but what's more pressing to me is that Bush hasn't pulled us out of Iraq yet. i guess what i'm trying to say is as long as whoever gets elected has the smarts to not put us in the line of fire when it isn't necessary is the person that i want to be leading the country.

speaking of foreign affairs, what's with us sending money and military aid to all these 3rd world countries? i know it's a good thing to do, but we really don't have that money. it's starting to make me think that our own government has forgets about us sometimes...

Anonymous said...

I believe that Obama has the right to become the next president. I know i would certainly vote for him. He is unlike Bush in every way, and in the same case unlike McCain who has voted with Bush over 90% of the time. Our country NEEDS change, because apparently its not doing so well right now under the current president. Obama is looking into alternate energy, because global warming is a REAL issue that needs to be taken care of otherwise our generation will either fry or drown. Also he does have experience, way more than Palin who has been gov. of alaska for less that two years. That probably isnt that hard either because there is like 10 people up there. McCain is going to die. Even though he has 22 years of experience, that experience isnt going to help us when he is dead. Our country is going to be stuck with a woman who is basically a hockey mom with not enough experience to know how to run our country. She will just be a puppet to the Cabinets decisions. Obama has shown that he can think for himself, because he doesnt have Bush's people write his speech for him.

Anonymous said...

Lauren talked about McCain being a veteran. That right there is him playing the pity card. Yes him living through torture and sticking up for his country makes him a good citizen who cares about his country, but not one who could necessarily run it. Also, McCain wont take the troops out of Iraq. This needs to be done because people are dying and who are we to be the worlds police anyways? Thats not in the job description. Also i disagree with veggielover on how McCain is against gay marriage and abortions. First off who gives straight people the right to vote on gays being married or not??? If you are straight, it doesnt affect you AT ALL. Why would you not just let them be happy!! And as for abortions... it isnt your kid! You arent the pregnant one! Let people have the choice! Obama is for both of these and as you can tell i would agree.

kandieblabbers said...

I really believe obama would be a very strong president. He is really for the people and I really just cant see McCain as a president. He didnt seem to have more of the people on his mind. Okay, he did but only the RICH people not middle-class family or the lower-class. In addition to this, I feel that his commercials against Obama that is suppose to make him look better, makes him look worse in my opinion. I really feel that Obama really should win this campaign.

kandieblabbers said...

I disagree with the comments about McCain and against Obama. I agree with lauren he didnt make a bad choice in making palin as the vp but really, i think he just did it because he was losing and needed a boost. McCain to me, doesnt seem to be someone who could run a country base on the people. McCain is experienced but experience doesnt define a man, it's what they are willing to do to make this country better than it was before. And, I just have to comment about the "this country isnt ready for a black president." If McCain dies, (not that i defy him because he's old) there would be a woman for president. Is the country more ready for a black president or a woman president??? Now, wouldnt America be for bullied and looked down upon by other countries? I really defy this question, but I just had to ask it. There is really no difference what your gender or race is as long as you can run a country and love the people. Woman or black or white or man. People really have to look past that.

I would agree with peekaboo when he talked about John Mccain planning on breaking our nation's strategic dependence on foreign sources of energy and will focus more on the American economy, becuase it is important that we start taping into our own scources for energy just because it allows us to be independent. Plus the people who think that Obama should win because he's black, well I've got news for you, it doesn't matter whether your black, blue, green, yellow or orange, what does matter is how a person is going to stand up to the pressure of leading a country of 300 million people and getting them to unite as one.

Anonymous said...

I like McCain for President. He can bring about just as much change as Obama can. Also, Obama doesn't have enough experience to be the President.

I am still halfway in the whole debate, but I am slowly starting to lean toward Obama. I have very liberal views and I like the sound of change to get out of this slump of the Republican goverment. It is true that McCain has more experience than Obama, but how many fresh presidents have there been in the past that been a success? How much experience did they have when they took office? I am still undecided.

I completely disagree with fruitlovers stance on gun control. Here in Wisconsin many sportsman would be EXTREMELY upset if there were stricter codes.

Also, Mouslicious' comment about Obama wanting to end the war may be true, but does he really have the power to?
